Calcium isn't protecting your bones. Not the way you think.
By the time you feel it, it's already too late to prevent it. This is the guide that explains what's actually going wrong, and exactly what to do about it.

Two patients I’ll never forget
A 49-year-old woman. A 53-year-old man. Neither had a dramatic accident. One tripped off a step; the other simply caught his foot on a carpet. Both ended up with fractures. Both were otherwise healthy and completely blindsided.
Those two cases sent me deep into the research and what I found was uncomfortable: almost everything we’ve been told about bone health is incomplete. Calcium isn’t the hero. Milk isn’t the answer. And the supplements most people take are missing the nutrients that actually matter.
This book is what I wish I could have handed them before it happened. Now I’m handing it to you.
What I wish my patients knew sooner
This is not a book about eating more dairy or taking more pills. It’s about understanding how your bones actually work and giving them exactly what they need.
01 — The countries that drink the most milk have the most fractures
Not the least. The most. So why are we still told to drink more?
02 — Calcium supplements may be going to the wrong place
Without the right cofactors, calcium doesn’t build bone — it builds up elsewhere. Your arteries included.
03 — You can live in sunny Singapore and still be vitamin D deficient
Up to 40% of adults here are. And without D3, you’re absorbing a fraction of the calcium you think you are.
04 — There’s a nutrient that reduced fractures by 57% and most people have never heard of it
It’s not calcium. It’s not D3. And it’s been hiding in the research for years.
05 — Your vitamin D supplement may not even be working
Not without this one mineral that most adults are quietly deficient in. Remove it, and the whole system stalls.
The numbers are clear. Waiting is not an option.
20%
of bone density can be lost by women in the decade surrounding menopause, even if they’ve been drinking milk their whole lives.
57%
reduction in fracture incidence shown in a meta-analysis of 16 trials on K2 supplementation —a nutrient most people have never been told about.
40%
of hip fracture patients cannot walk independently one year after injury. It’s not just an inconvenience!
This book is written for you if...
✓ You’re in your 40s or 50s and haven’t thought seriously about bone health yet
The best time to act is before a fracture happens. Bone density loss is silent — you feel nothing until something breaks.
✓ You’re already taking calcium or a standard bone supplement
You may be getting false reassurance. Calcium alone has weak evidence for preventing fractures —and without D3, K2, and magnesium, it may not be helping much at all.
✓ You’re Asian and don’t consume much dairy
Good. You don’t need to. This book was written with you in mind — with food recommendations that actually fit a Singapore and Asian lifestyle.
✓ You want a practical protocol you can start this week
The book closes with a clear, actionable Quick Start Protocol. Three supplements. One blood test. No overwhelm.
Who Am I?
Dr. Mark’s roots are in Traditional Chinese Medicine, but he’s spent the better part of his career building bridges —between ancient clinical wisdom and modern science, between gut instinct and peer-reviewed evidence.
His research into bone health began the way the best research often does: personally. Watching his own parents age, and then facing two patients whose fractures came without warning, he realized how urgently bone health needed a clearer, more honest conversation.
That conviction became this book — and the broader Midlife Brain Project, his Substack dedicated to practical healthspan extension for people in their 40s, 50s, and beyond.
