Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) for Musculoskeletal Disorders

knee pain causes, inner knee pain

NKT what?

Put simply, NKT is a method that finds relationships between muscles, identifies the particular muscle or muscle group that requires treatment, and shows you how to treat it. During a session, assessment and treatment of muscle imbalances will be concurrent.

Because the body is complex it compensates in many ways and there may be multiple muscles or groups involved in your presenting issue While regular bodywork treatments support temporary relief, NKT is a method that may provide a longer-term solution and empower you to self-care between sessions.

What Happens In A Session?

– Assessment: The session begins with detailed history intake, posture examination and further assessment either lying down or doing movements relevant to the activities or sports you do.

– Muscle Testing: This is done throughout the session, to assess the relationships between muscles in the body, allowing you to know which muscles are underworking and more importantly, which overworking muscle is obstructing its function.

– Treatment Testing: Using his hands, JX will loosen areas of restriction and work with you to fire up inactive muscles.

– Homework: The session concludes with homework that will help you rebalance on an ongoing basis, e.g. muscles to release on your own, muscles to strengthen on your own.

What Will You Get From An Initial Session?

– Discover: You will find out 2-3 sets of muscle imbalances to work on.

– Progress: You will be prescribed suitable release and muscle activation exercises that you can work on at home. This is valuable information to go home with, even if you already have a regular trainer or physiotherapist

Note: It is often good to come back after the first session for a review, to drill deeper.  Subsequent session will not require too much history intake. There will be  more time to work on repatterning dysfunctional patterns in the body.
